LD7 — Growth

Interesting concept, but confusing to get into, and lacking depth, so to speak With more time to stew and a more flexible implementation this could be a cool game describing the adventures of the miners and how they encounter gas and underground volcanos and monsters and stuff. As for production values, it has smooth animation at least

The main thing making this game un-fun was that turning around to fire was very difficult. Otherwise I would have made it a 5 in fun, cause most of the elements of an entertaining game are present. Innovation is a bit low because it's still basically a snake game and doesn't really "take new ownership" of the idea. The production values are pretty good

The game was very fun and well done, and a slightly different take on the "harvest sim" game. With the newer fixed version I give it all around good marks

There was a Game Maker game almost exactly like this. The difference is, this one has interesting animation and few stupid delays, and it's mostly a lot easier to score well in until the last period. (the GM game worked in "ages," was only planet-bound, and forced a delay after every age...and it was also a bigger, more complex take on the concept) I kept playing until I had it solved(though I admit I used the solution even after I had come close to getting it right - the only thing I missed was when to use the telescope).

It looks and sounds really nice. And having the beanstalk shift around is a nice touch. But even though it's set up like a good platformer, there's nothing much driving the gameplay after messing around with it for a minute or two.

Oh, this was quite addicting. The fourth level requires luck and almost perfect execution, however, since a lot of needed items ended up "trapped" behind stuff too big for you. Still can't beat it. But it's basically Katamari with an overhead view. But this has smoother animation imo

This game was cool. The main problem was that it was very confusing and I still couldn't understand why some choices worked out and others didn't after a long time playing.

It's Katamari and it doesn't even have the "some things you bump into before you're big enough to pick them up" aspect. I couldn't enjoy it for very long.

This guy is obviously the greatest game developer ever.

Nice concept, easy to understand(but a bit tricky to master), and it runs in a browser which is a major plus for production. It just needs more "interesting elements" added into the mix to be a real winner.

This one is pretty cool, but too simple for the long-term. Also, the graphics are a bit of an issue; they slow down very easily on my older 1ghz machine, and the only way to distinguish the "pick-up" pieces from the "shooting" pieces is the direction they're going in.

This is an excellent game, though the variations are pretty much exhausted in the given level set.

Another awesome game, even considering the buggy competition version. A fun puzzle-action game and it looks very pretty.

This is probably the most visually interesting game in LD this time out. As a game it was pretty good, until I had managed to kill all the viruses But the whole celluar-warfare/Defender-protection concept has been done so many times it's hard to call it innovative, exactly...

LD48h#7 unofficial and pending votes - Lerc results and comments by Lerc

Because it's so unfinished, it isn't really all that much fun....and it's a bit hard to figure out the few things you can do. But it sure looks cool. An RTS in 48 hours, even if it isn't done, is quite something

This game is a really stupid and slow-paced platformer. Yet it's somehow fun at the same time. I think it's the beanstalk-growing sound effect

LD48h#7 unofficial and pending votes - MikeHommel results and comments by Mike Hommel

This is quite good considering there's no game. The effect of having everything get eaten up by the termites little by little was awesome.

This was probably the strangest entry. Congratulations. But it was like playing Hover Bovver without any of the interesting bits. Between that and the fact that the theme wasn't doing much for me, I found myself quitting early.

First of all, the control was unexpectedly confusing because you would think that you use two directions to control the angle - more complex and precise control would benefit this kind of game. Second, a lot of the difficulty was dependent on where you started a section...starting one in a "easy" location is luck because you aren't told which ones are best. Finally, there are bugs with the starting location, and running into a wall lets you cheat all the way up to the top of the level. It was entertaining, but too frustrating(without the cheat).

When I tell the branches to die they should die immediately, not after thinking about it!!!! Maybe it's a JVM thing, but that's the only reason this game is unfun. The "grow inside the border" part wasn't clear until I looked at the readme, but I was doing OK just killing all the yellows until level 7.

This one is way cool, but it was tricky to get into. When I won the game I had this barely-mobile blob - what would have been really cool is rewarding the player for making a lean and efficient creature or something.

The only reason I'm giving this a 1 in Fun is because it's a game that demands a lot of patience for celluar biology and long-term resource balancing. I tried it and was hating it in moments because I knew exactly what the game was about but it wasn't presenting the challenge in an interesting way(ha ha, you wasted too much ATP...tell me that before I lose). I let my brother try it a little later, and he eventually succeeded in conquering wimpy mode, but it took forever and multiple tries at reading the instructions. It's not a bad concept, and it could even be worked into a professional game that aims to teach biology facts, but it's hardly a fun 48hour game.

Kind of generic "reach the bottom" platform game, only the mechanics seem pretty minimalistic....annoyingly so, even. I didn't like how it revealed the wrong path only when you got there. But not a bad job either.

LD48h#7 unofficial and pending votes - drZool results and comments by dr Zool

The severely minimal instructions made this one harder to play than it should have been, and there isn't too much going on after you figure it out. Again, a different take on the "farming sim." And it looks nice.

This one was kind of fun, but there was a sort of inevitability that eventually your group and the obstacles would get too big to survive. It would be more interesting if the sizes varied more *during* the levels with powerups or something.
